History

Stirling is named in 1854 after Edward Stirling, the illegitimate son of the Scottish aristocrat  Archibald Stirling and the great half uncle of Sir David Stirling who founded the SAS during WW2.

Originally the traditional lands of the Peramangk people, Stirling was the favourite spot for wealthy English migrants to escape Adelaide's hot summers.

As a result, many grand mansions can be found here, including of course Stirling Castle!

Restaurants

There are about 20 eateries in Stirling, all within walking distance from the castle. This includes everything from fine dining such as Patch, to fabulous pie shops such as Stirling Bakery.
